Mom Health: Dealing with Postpartum Depression

A lot of women experience postpartum depression, making an already challenging time of life even harder and robbing them of the joy of welcoming a child into the world. There should be no shame in experiencing this — it’s the body’s response to the changing environment of the body once a child is born. The good news? Postpartum depression can be treated with simple changes and healthy eating — really.

Producing humans is a HARD job, especially if you haven’t changed your diet to grain and GMO-free foods. You are building another human, so if you’re not receiving the right nutrients to refill your buckets, that job is exponentially harder than it has to be.

Depression after having babies can be brought on by two reasons: The first cause of postpartum depression is the lack of essential fatty acids. You have lost the hormones of your little one and your body is in a state of shock. Translation: you NEED Cod Liver oil four to six times a day. I love Standard Process’ brand of Cod Liver oil.

The second cause of postpartum depression is that many moms are currently in a state of adrenal fatigue. If you conceive while in a state of adrenal fatigue, you will borrow your infant’s adrenals for a little support. Once the child is born, you will crash and for some moms, it is HARD. This can be helped during pregnancy by using EndoFlex, which is an amazing adrenal support oil, eating a Paleo diet, and supplementing with good, healthy fats like avocado, clean fish and meats.

Make these simple changes to your diet, and you may experience amazing relief. If your symptoms continue, contact me for more personal attention. The most important thing is to not blame yourself and to realize that you don’t have to fight this alone.
